Luke Graham MP gets out the Shop Local Message on Small Business Saturday

Local MP Luke Graham, was in Kinross to support the local business community for ‘Small Business Saturday’.

The ‘Small Business Saturday’ campaign aims to have a lasting impact on small businesses across the UK by encouraging local customers to support all types of small, local businesses online, in offices and in stores.  Many businesses take part by hosting events and offering discounts.

Luke Graham MP spent the morning in Kinross visiting local businesses and speaking to customers in the town, as well as attending the Farmer’s Market at Loch Leven Larder.

Commenting after the event, Luke Graham MP said:

“Small businesses are the life blood of our communities, not only in Kinross, but right around the UK.  We see a lot of empty shop units in our high street and we need to raise the profile of those who are left to help them thrive.

Online retail and convenience shopping will still have its place, but we can help our local communities by supporting businesses on our high streets.

That is why I am continuing to support measures that reduce the burden on our business and boost the vibrancy of our High Streets”

He also added:

“Loneliness is an issue that we are all very aware of.  Being able to go in to a shop, not only gives that personal connection, but may help to enhance a community spirit.”
