During Scotland Office departmental questions today, Luke Graham MP called on the UK Government to ensure funding from Westminster for the Tay Cities Deal is delivered and that it will consider further applications for funding.
Speaking in the House of Commons chamber, Mr Graham said:
“Perth City Centre is just outside my constituency but is still a cultural and commercial hub for many of my constituents.
Can my RHF inform me, and others in the house, that he is considering further funding applications for Perth city centre and the rural areas of Perth and Kinross”
In response, Mel Stride MP confirmed the UK Government’s continued commitment to the Tay Cities Deal.
The Tay Cities Deal, which was signed off in November last year, was a collaborative funding deal worth £300m jointly funded by the UK Government and Holyrood.
Although the deal encompasses all of Tayside region, Luke Graham MP fought for projects from across all of Perth and Kinross for inclusion in the Tay Cities Deal and continued to do so today in parliament.
Commenting Luke Graham MP said:
“I welcome the UK Government’s continued commitment to the Tay Cities Deal, which is worth £150m to the region.
This deal is an exciting opportunity for growth and regeneration all across Perth and Kinross, and I am continuing to argue for further investment to come here from the UK Government.”
