Luke Graham MP took a quick break from European electioneering on Thursday to visit the Scottish Martial Arts Centre, to support 'Lean On Me' 100 Knees Challenge for Suicide Awareness.
The MP released a video on his social media outlets of him taking part in the ‘100 Knees Challenge’ with Craig McIntosh of the Scottish Martial Arts Centre. The challenge required the participant to do 100 knee kicks into a pad as quickly as possible.
The challenge took place during a visit to the Scottish Martial Arts Centre in Tullibody in his constituency of Ochil and South Perthshire. The challenge came about as a result of an invitation to the MP. Craig McIntosh, from the Scottish Martial Arts Centre, told Mr Graham that in memory of one of their members suicide, the club is raising awareness on social media alongside the ‘Lean on Me’ charity.
Commenting Luke Graham MP said:
“Any loss of life is a tragedy, but suicide even more so as it is often preventable with the right help and support.
It is fantastic that the club are doing so much to raise awareness of this issue, and I thank them for inviting me along and giving me the opportunity to take part and support their cause.
Martial arts and fitness are a great way to help focus young men and women, with the issue of mental health becoming more prominent, clubs like the Scottish Martial Arts Centre provide a real opportunity for a second chance…and a lot of fun.”
